My Hearts Home

by - November 11, 2015

You know those places you go to, where you just feel at home. Even if you've only been there once before or haven't at all. You just go somewhere and you instantly fit in, or your heart just starts hurting the second you leave. It's like you were meant to be there, you live there, to stay there forever.  It's your heart's home, the place where your heart and soul just want to be.
Johnny Mercer
That's how I feel about Savannah, Georgia. I love Hilton Head Island to death, that should be extremely obvious to anyone who knows me, but Savannah... Savannah, Georgia is where I want to live. The history, the feel of it, the weather, the people. Everything about Savannah, Georgia calls to me. I feel that perhaps in a past life I lived there because something about it feels so strongly of home.
SCAD's Freshman Dorms
Now I could live there, I could easily apply to SCAD and hope that I get in. I'd live in the freshman dorms that used to be hotel rooms. I could walk to my school or ride a bike from building to building. I'd be able to go out with friends to restaurants like PJ's Breakfast for some delicious french toast or the Moon River Brewing Company for some haunted dinner time fun. I could head up to Forsyth park for some exercise or music one night or every night. I could take advantage of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by heading into the Bonaventure Cemetery for a little trip into human history like visiting the grave of composer Johnny Mercer. Or if I'm brave enough I can visit one of the most haunted buildings in Savannah, the Sorrell Weed house, to see some spirits.
PJ's Breakfast

There is so much to do in Savannah that my day took six hours to complete just a handful of things to do before the rain came in calling it a day. If I lived there I believe it would be a place where you wouldn't run out of things to do. Like my hometown that I have lived in for eighteen years, I still haven't done or seen everything there is to see. I can certainly see that Savannah, Georgia is a great place to live and visit, the amount of history is overwhelming and growing since 1733.
Sorrel-Weed House
Eventually I do hope to live here or at least close enough that I can spend more time exploring Savannah, Georgia. Savannah seems like the place that is constantly moving and busy during the day or night. But then at the same time it's calm and peaceful to be at, and I can't tell if it's because it comes right up to the water or because of the scenery Savannah has. If you've never been to Savannah, Georgia I obviously recommend it because to me it's one of the greatest places I've ever been.
