Being Audrey Hepburn

I just finished one of my new favorite books. Not only does this book totally make me think of my Audrey obsessing 19-year-old self, but also some other things that hit close to home. Written by Mitchell Kriegman, a man I applaud, it’s the perfect book for a girl like me. In love with everything Audrey and Breakfast at Tiffany’s just a little to much.
The story is of a girl named Lisbeth who gets the once in a lifetime chance to do something amazing, that I kind of wish I could do myself! That is, try on Givenchy’s LBD that was made for Audrey Hepburn to wear herself. She’s able to shimmy herself ever so carefully into the dress that was perfect for Audrey’s 34-20-35 figure. Of course, that’s not all that happens. When her best friend, who works at the MET, who allowed her to try on the dress, hears that her boss is coming upstairs… well that’s when everything changes. That’s when everything starts.
I don’t want to give any spoilers but I have to say, Mitchell Kriegman wrote this book wonderfully! There is a whole paragraph and more that I wish I could cut out and plaster on my wall above my tv. But instead, I’ll write it all here for you to read yourself.
“Here’s the big secret- Audrey Hepburn is the cure for everything.
Dumped by your lifelong crush? Sabrina. Want to escape your life and go incognito? Roman Holiday. Tired of being a bookworm? Funny Face. Crisis of conscience? The Nun’s Story. Family secrets to cover up? How to Steal a Million. Ready for a vacation escapade with a little intrigue in Paris? Charade.
A movie cure for every need.
Above them all is Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
The way each movie is described as your go to cure for that problem is absolutely perfect and inevitably true. I must say, Being Audrey Hepburn is one of my new favorite books. I sort of felt like I was trying the dress on myself and having a wonderful, but anxiety filled night, at the MET gala that Lisbeth gets swept into.
If you haven’t already, I advise you read this book as quickly as you can.
