I adore the smell of lavender, it's such a pleasing scent and bears a lot of memories for me. I remember my grandma having this little pouch of lavender that you could heat up in the microwave and use to sooth aches or pains, as well as help you fall asleep. I remember sleeping with it around my neck at night. She had this lavender hand cream too, she would rub it on our hands as we tried to sleep. She'd tell us little stories or just talk to us as she did so. As I write these out, more memories keep popping into my head revolving around the smell of lavender. It’s this almost therapeutic aroma that has made the flower a perfect choice for perfumes, soaps, fresheners, beauty products, and more.
It's also one of the most perfect oils for beginners- I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy the smell of lavender. My own partner couldn't stop smelling my wrist when I was wearing my aromatherapy bracelet from Reclaimed Luxury that had a drop of it on the lava beads.
When it comes to lavender in the Wiccan world, it's actually very useful! Lavender is associated with Mercury in Culpeper's Herbal. It is also associated with the element of air and the astrological sign Virgo! When it comes to the plant itself, it may be used as an aspersing herb (to sprinkle water for purification purposes) and dried lavender sticks or wands can be burnt like incense. Instead of burning though, I put two drops of lavender in my diffuser and run that for a few hours. The only bundle of an herb I actually light and burn right now is my sage stick, but I do have a few incense sticks given to me by friends and family. It is also useful in spells to sharpen the mind, to encourage or strengthen pure love and to encourage fertility. A lot of love spells have rose or lavender incorporated in them for that specific reason.
The scent of lavender is relaxing and uplifting all at once which definitely makes it a great aromatherapy for stressed out or depressed individuals, like myself. I find myself having bad headaches when majorly stressed out. Try adding some lavender oil to your bath or add it to a bit of coconut oil for a relaxing massage at the end of a hard day. If you've bought one of the aromatherapy bracelets from one of the markets I've worked, I highly suggest adding a drop to your bracelet and wear it throughout the day to help your day to day stress. Stuffing a pillow with lavender buds may help insomniacs relax and fall asleep and soothes headaches like I stated I did years back with my grandmother.

I highly suggest buying a bottle of lavender oil to use in your life, you can get some here that is 100% pure and therapeutic-grade essential oil. I use mine a lot and I have noticed a significant improvement in decreasing the stresses in my life. For all my fellow wiccans out in the world, check out this list of things you can do with your new bottle of lavender essential oil here.
